An Important Message from The Designer…

Elec-Trick Custom Cruisers was not started because of some sort of need to fulfill some childhood fantasy that I could never break away from.  I’ve owned multiple successful businesses that I’m proud of being part of.  Whether it was commercial manufacturing, off-road vehicle building and design, fabrication or Automation in the vehicle washing market, all very fulfilling I might add.   It was literally founded through a personal need and a noticeable lack of cool looking, well performing, well equipped electric bikes.

Let’s get to the nitty gritty, shall we.

 

Life is full of surprises and I’ve had my fair share.  I was fortunate enough to have wonderful children early on and they are now off and living their own lives.  Had a tough time with my first marriage and have been now with my amazing girlfriend for almost four years.  I know, I know, Ron what are you getting at?…I’m getting there. When I started dating my girlfriend I found out quickly that her, her daughters and their husbands are very, very active.  Whether it is bicycling, skiing, dirt- biking, off-roading, you name it, they do it.  I love to be adventurous as much as the next person. I’m healthy and in good physical shape, well,….almost.  I have a bum knee.  It aches most of the time and quite frankly, It’s tough to keep up with the active lifestyle.  I tried biking down at the beach a few times with everyone and found myself walking next to the bike after a while because of the extreme difficulty that I had pedaling.  Problem is, I really enjoyed the youthful feeling of it.  Don’t know what it is but there is something liberating about cruising around on two wheels.  Ok, so now I have a problem.  How am I going to have fun on a bike with a bum knee?

Problem Solved…

Because of my engineering skillset and the way my mind works, I set out to acquire an electric bicycle.  I thought for sure that this was going to be the easy part, you would think.  So many bikes and so much to choose from. Right?  Wrong!  I may be in my early 50’s but I’m not dead nor would I be caught dead on most of the electric bikes that are on the market.  Why do companies feel the need to make electric bikes look so different and hideous?  I did not feel comfortable spending a bunch of money on something so ugly and not to mention, cheaply built.  My personal opinion of course.  I didn’t want people see me ride by, point and laugh or even giggle, “Not going to happen” I said to myself. Now I’m not saying that I’m the coolest guy on the planet but I’d like to look a bit cool.  So I said to myself, “Self, you’re an engineer and a fabricator, why not just build it”.  So I did but not until I knew everything there was to know about e-bikes.  I spent the next month or so doing due diligence on electric bikes.  I investigated motors, batteries, component parts, reviews, etc..  When I set out to do something, I do it right.  No cutting corners for this guy.

I then started the process of development and spent months and months with design and test riding and found what worked and what didn’t work along the way.  I put over 600 miles on the prototype bike until I was happy.  There was no way I was going to offer this bike to someone else if it didn’t meet my expectations.  The development time worked out great and surprisingly enough, there were not many changes to the final product.  Changes that were made were component changes for the better and did not reflect negatively on the design.  I tried three different frame styles over the course of development and ended up going back to the original design because of its classic look and superb handling, thanks to some good ole fashioned engineering time.  Finally happy with what I had created, I formed Elec-Trick Custom Cruisers. We have implemented everything you need in order to have an amazing electric bicycle experience.  Through our rigorous efforts we hope to offer you the most enjoyable electric bicycle adventure.  Every cruiser made is handcrafted, assembled and tested by myself, I’d like to keep it that way.  I’m not interested in producing 100’s of thousands, I’m interested in making a product that we both can be proud of and stylized to your taste.  Unfortunately, I can’t guarantee that people aren’t going to stop you and marvel at your new ride.
